In the summer of 2014 Southwest Urban Hydrology partnered with the Santa Fe-Pojoaque SWCD to begin monitoring soil moisture at curb cuts with and without basins.  Volumetric water content measurements were taken over the course of nine months (September 2014 through May 2015) to determine whether soil moisture differs at various depths, diurnally, and in rain gardens that collect stormwater versus areas where stormwater is allowed to run across the soil surface.  A final report is available for download as a pdf.  Please contact us if you would like to schedule a presentation that reviews the results.

Soil moisture probes used to measure volumetric water content at 6, 12, 18, 24, and 36 inches below the soil surface.
