Watershed Management Course: Aaron Kauffman will be teaching the ENVR 216 Watershed Management course at the Santa Fe Community College in the spring of 2018. The course will cover a myriad of watershed topics including concepts in hydrology, land management, Green Infrastructure, and stream restoration. The 3-credit class, which can also be audited, will be offered Monday evenings from 5:30-8:15pm. Please visit the SFCC website for more information and to register.
Land and Water Summit Conference: Aaron Kauffman will be presenting on the benefits of harvesting stormwater as passive irrigation in rain gardens. The presentation will focus on improvements in soil moisture brought about through retention of runoff from small impervious areas. Results after three years of monitoring indicate that stormwater could potentially sustain shade trees and pollinator habitat in the absence of potable water used for irrigation.
